Alex Arcoleo and Sam Bhok present a double header of evocative, garage-infused techno, boasting overdriven drum machines enveloped in a kaleidoscope of rich analogue textures, emotive chord progressions, and intricate modular synthesis.
Nine Barrows is an energetic cut, with processed vocal chops over a conflux of saturated synth textures and modular sequences. Adverse Camber takes a more introspective approach, delving into moody atmospheres, dubbed out synths and a hypnotic looped vocal sample throughout.
Friends since childhood, they shared their formative years exploring Bristol’s club culture, an influence that continues to resonate in their music. Both have since taken their own paths in the music industry – Alex as an accomplished composer, pianist, and producer, with a number of notable releases under his own name and in producing the work of others, such as brother Josh Arcoleo’s esteemed 2023 record K.O.K.O; and Sam as the in-house sound engineer at renowned underground music station Worldwide FM, and through running club nights in Bristol and London while holding down a longstanding residency on Noods Radio with Stay Put. This record marks Alex and Sam’s first musical collaboration, merging their individual skills and backgrounds into a cohesive and compelling release that reflects both their shared history and distinct talents. The double-sider marks the debut release on Sam Bhok’s new DIY imprint, Two For Joy.
