British blues-rock guitarist Peter Green first achieved recognition with John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, in which he replaced Eric Clapton. Green founded Fleetwood Mac in 1967. As that band’s first leader, he wrote classic songs including “Black Magic Woman,” “Oh Well,” “The Green Manalishi” and “Albatross.” Green succumbed to drug and mental health issues at the height of Fleetwood Mac’s early popularity and left the band in May 1970. Despite continuing health challenges, Peter Green reemerged as a solo artist in the late ’70s. Comeback album In The Skies was Green’s first record after 8 years in obscurity. Surrounded with longtime friends including Peter Bardens (Camel) and Snowy White, Green cut a mix of vocal numbers and instrumentals, composed songs and jams. The music of In The Skies casts a captivating, spellbinding mood. Often acclaimed as Peter Green’s best solo album.
